Omada SDN Controller

Centralised management for your entire TP-Link Omada network, access points, switches, and gateways, from a single dashboard. On-premise or cloud-hosted.

Key highlights

  • Single dashboard for all Omada devices across one or multiple sites
  • Cloud-hosted or on-premise controller options
  • Role-based access, give your team the right level of visibility
  • Real-time alerts, usage reports, and device health monitoring

One controller. Every Omada device. Every site.

The Omada SDN Controller is the management brain of a TP-Link Omada network. Every access point, managed switch, and gateway in your deployment is visible, configurable, and monitored from a single interface. Without a controller, each device is managed individually, a slow, error-prone approach that doesn't scale beyond a handful of devices. With the controller deployed and configured correctly, your entire network becomes a single managed system.

Controller deployment options

The Omada Controller runs in three forms: as software on a Windows or Linux server you already own, on a dedicated Omada Hardware Controller (OC300 or OC200), or as a cloud-hosted instance managed by Sentire on Azure infrastructure. The right choice depends on your site count, IT resources, and preference for on-premise versus cloud management.

What the controller manages

Access points

Every deployed access point reports to the controller. SSID configuration, VLAN assignments, band steering, roaming sensitivity, and firmware updates are all pushed from the controller, changes apply instantly across your entire wireless estate without touching individual devices.

Managed switches

Omada managed switches integrate with the controller for VLAN configuration, PoE budget management, port-level monitoring, and loop detection. Network segmentation that would previously require separate switch management interfaces is handled from the same dashboard you use for Wi-Fi.

Gateways and VPN

Omada gateways (ER series) managed through the controller provide site-to-site VPN, load balancing across multiple WAN connections, and firewall policy management. For businesses with multiple branches, the controller provides a unified view of all site connections and VPN tunnel status.

Visibility and reporting

The controller provides real-time visibility into client counts, bandwidth usage, access point signal strength, switch port utilisation, and gateway WAN status. Historical reports can be generated for capacity planning, troubleshooting, and reporting to management. Alerts for device offline events, high CPU, or unusual traffic patterns are configured to notify the Sentire team immediately.

Multi-site businesses benefit most

If your organisation has more than one physical location, the Omada Controller's multi-site management capabilities are significant. All branch networks are visible from a single login. VPN tunnels between sites are configured and monitored centrally. A new branch can be onboarded in hours, not days. Contact Sentire to discuss a multi-site deployment.
