Network Monitoring

24/7 monitoring of switches, routers, access points, and firewalls. Proactive alerts before outages. Monthly network health reports.

Key highlights

  • 24/7 monitoring of all network devices
  • Proactive issue detection and alerting
  • Interface utilisation and performance tracking
  • Monthly network health reports

A healthy network doesn't announce problems. it prevents them.

Your network is the backbone of your business. when it fails, everything stops. but network failures rarely happen without warning. A switch running hot will fail in hours, not instantly. An ISP link being congested for days before actually losing packets. A routing loop causing packets to recycle endlessly. These problems are detectable well in advance if someone is watching.

Sentire's network monitoring watches your entire network 24/7, catching problems before they become outages. This shifts your network from reactive (fix it when it breaks) to proactive (stop it from breaking).

Network visibility is not optional

Most network problems are detected by users complaining. someone tries to reach a server and can't. a video call drops. a WiFi device stops connecting. By that point, the problem has usually been happening for minutes or hours. Proactive monitoring detects these issues within seconds and often fixes them before users are impacted.

What we monitor

Device health

Every network device. switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points. is monitored for status, availability, and health. We track temperature (if available), power supply status, and processor utilisation. A switch running at 95% CPU or a firewall approaching thermal limits will be flagged for investigation before it fails.

Interface and link status

We monitor every network interface: is it up or down, what's the bandwidth utilisation, how many errors or collisions are happening, what's the latency to the next hop. If a core network link is consistently at 85% utilisation, you're close to congestion. If an ISP connection is showing high error rates, the carrier needs to investigate before packet loss starts affecting applications.

Routing and topology

For complex networks with multiple sites or failover, we monitor routing. are packets taking the path you expect? If you have dual ISP failover, is failover working correctly? A silent routing problem could send your critical traffic to the wrong destination without anyone noticing until performance degrades or a security check fails.

WiFi and wireless infrastructure

If you have an enterprise WiFi network, we monitor access point availability, radio interference levels, and client associations. a malfunctioning AP can go undetected for days if staff just move to a working AP. our monitoring catches it immediately.

Alerting and response

When monitoring detects an issue, you're alerted immediately. the type of alert depends on severity. a link that's at 80% utilisation gets logged but may not trigger an active alert. a link that goes down triggers an immediate alert to Sentire's network team and optionally to your IT contact. High-severity alerts. like a firewall failing or an ISP connection dropping. trigger immediate investigation and often a fix before you're aware of the problem.

Proactive trending and capacity planning

Monitoring over time shows trends. If your core network switch is growing at 15% utilisation per month, in six months you'll hit saturation and need an upgrade. we'll flag this in your monthly report with a recommendation for when to refresh the equipment. capacity planning based on real data is far better than guessing or reacting to an outage.

Integration with your other services

Network monitoring integrates with Sentire's Managed IT Support service. If network monitoring detects a problem, it's escalated to your remote helpdesk team. if a firewall is running hot, an engineer can investigate. if an ISP link is losing packets, we contact the carrier and follow up. you have one point of contact for the entire problem, not separate vendors for network and IT support.

Network downtime is rare. network slowness is common.

Not every network problem is a complete failure. often, performance degradation (slow file transfers, laggy VoIP) is a sign of congestion, a failing interface, or misconfiguration. These issues are invisible without monitoring but cause frustration for users. proactive monitoring catches performance problems and lets Sentire engineers fix them before they escalate to full outages.
