Surveillance that actually works
A CCTV system that isn't accessible, doesn't cover the areas you need, or records in a format you can't view when something happens is worse than no system at all. it creates a false sense of security. Sentire's IP camera installation service covers everything from initial site survey and camera placement planning, through equipment supply and installation, to network configuration and remote access setup. Your system is operational, tested, and staff-trained before we leave site.
IP cameras vs. analogue CCTV
IP (network) cameras are digital systems that record to network storage and allow instant remote viewing. Analogue CCTV is older technology that requires dedicated cabling and can only be viewed on a monitor connected to the recording device. IP cameras cost less to install (they run on standard network cabling), offer much better image quality, and give you access from anywhere. There's no reason to choose analogue anymore.
Design and planning
Before a single camera is mounted, we conduct a site survey to understand your premises. the entrances and exits you need to monitor, public areas, vulnerable zones, lighting conditions, and potential blind spots. We then create a camera placement plan that covers your priorities without installing more cameras than necessary.
We'll recommend specific Hikvision or Dahua camera models based on the application. a 4K turret camera for a wide entrance lobby, a fisheye for a narrow corridor, a PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) camera for tracking movement across a large space. Each camera is chosen to do its job well rather than buying the same model everywhere.
Installation and cabling
IP cameras run on standard Ethernet cabling. Either we use existing network cabling if it reaches the right locations, or we install new Cat6 runs from your network switch to each camera location. Unlike analogue systems, we don't need dedicated video cables everywhere. we're using your network infrastructure.
Cameras are installed in weatherproof housings for outdoor areas and professionally mounted indoors. Cable runs are hidden where possible, properly secured, and labelled. The goal is a professional installation that looks intentional, not a tangle of wires and dangling cameras.
Network storage and retention
Video footage is recorded to a Network Video Recorder (NVR), a dedicated device on your network that stores footage from all cameras. We configure the NVR with a retention policy suited to your needs. typically 30 days of continuous recording for most businesses. longer for high-value facilities, shorter if storage is constrained. The NVR is monitored as part of your infrastructure monitoring so failed disks or storage issues are caught immediately.
Remote access
Once installed, your cameras are accessible from anywhere. via mobile app on iOS and Android, or through a web browser on desktop. You can view live feeds, review historical footage, search for specific events, and export clips if needed. Access is controlled with user accounts and permissions, so you can give office staff limited access without granting security team privileges.
Ongoing support and maintenance
Installation is just the start. After setup, we can monitor your CCTV system as part of your managed IT service, catching storage issues, failed cameras, or network problems before you notice them. We also offer maintenance services to keep the system running reliably.
As your business changes. new office areas, relocated entrances, or evolving security needs. your camera system can be updated. unlike analogue CCTV that gets locked in place, IP camera systems scale and adapt.
From site survey to operation in one week
For most Nairobi premises, we can complete a full IP camera installation within 5 to 7 business days from the initial survey. equipment arrives quickly, installation is fast because we're not dealing with dedicated video cabling, and you're up and running with remote access from day one. that's efficient and professional.
