CCTV that works as a business tool, not just a deterrent

A CCTV system that records continuously and lets you review footage after an incident is the baseline. Modern IP CCTV goes further: intelligent motion detection that distinguishes between people and vehicles, remote access from any device so you can check your premises from anywhere, and proactive alerts when a camera goes offline or storage is running low. Sentire designs and installs IP camera systems with the full capability, not just the minimum.

Every installation starts with a site survey

Camera placement determines what you can actually see. A camera covering the wrong angle, too wide a field of view to identify faces, or positioned where lighting creates silhouettes rather than clear images, is a camera that won't be useful when you need it. Sentire's engineers walk every site before any equipment is specified, mapping coverage requirements and sightlines for each area.

IP camera types for different environments

Dome cameras

The standard indoor and outdoor camera type for offices, reception areas, corridors, and retail environments. Vandal-resistant housing available for areas at risk of tampering. Varifocal lenses adjust coverage angle for the specific mounting position.

Bullet cameras

Long-range outdoor cameras for car parks, perimeter fencing, and large open areas. Visible deterrent effect. IR illumination for night-time coverage without additional lighting infrastructure.

PTZ cameras

Pan, tilt, and zoom cameras for large areas where one camera needs to cover multiple zones. Operators can pan to follow movement, zoom to identify faces or number plates, and configure patrol patterns for automated coverage.

AcuSense cameras

AI-powered detection that classifies motion events by type. Humans and vehicles trigger alerts. Cats, birds, tree branches, and rain do not. In environments where false alarms from standard motion detection have made alerts unusable, AcuSense restores confidence in the system.

Colour night vision (ColorVu)

Traditional IR night vision produces black and white footage. ColorVu cameras use large-aperture lenses and supplemental white light to produce full-colour footage in near-darkness. Colour detail, including clothing and vehicle colour, significantly aids identification.

NVR storage sizing

How much storage you need depends on camera count, resolution, frame rate, and required retention period. Many businesses undersize storage and then find their system only retains 72 hours of footage instead of the 30 days they assumed. Sentire calculates storage requirements precisely for your system before any hardware is ordered. We also configure storage health monitoring, so a failing drive doesn't silently create gaps in your retention.

For businesses with compliance requirements, such as the 30-day minimum retention recommended under Kenyan Data Protection Act guidelines for CCTV systems handling personal data, we document the configuration to support your compliance posture.

Remote viewing

Every IP CCTV system we install supports remote viewing via secure mobile and desktop apps. You can check any camera from your phone, review footage from any time within the retention window, and share a clip with police or insurers directly from the app. Remote access is configured securely, without exposing the NVR directly to the internet, using encrypted tunnel access.

Managed camera health monitoring

A camera that has gone offline or has a lens obscured is worse than no camera, because it creates a false sense of security. As part of Sentire's managed CCTV service, we monitor camera online status and NVR storage health continuously. An alert is generated when a camera goes offline, a drive reports errors, or storage capacity reaches a threshold. You know about the problem before you find out the footage you needed wasn't recorded.

Existing CCTV that isn't performing?

Many businesses have analogue or first-generation IP cameras that are still recording but no longer meeting the quality or capability requirements of the business. A CCTV audit identifies what you have, what it's actually capturing, and what a modern IP replacement would deliver. Contact Sentire to arrange a site assessment.
